it is nothing new that the media
exploits images of women
to sell their products.
it has become so normal we
don’t even realize half the time
when these images are degrading
to women. media creators try to
push the limit just far enough not
to offend the masses.
where do you draw the line?
take the newsstand cover quiz
and identify which cover you think
goes to far. (Rated PG-13)

In everything but the Oprah mag, you could sub in a man and the image could be the exact same. Only Oprah's image is sexed-up in a specifically "look at my female figure" way.
ReplyDeleteThe cover featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt was not only a picture for which she did not specifically pose, the headline was degrading. This woman went out in a bikini feeling confident, but as her figure was not up to the media's standards, she is torn down. The "sexy" images don't do anything for women, but at least they chose to be shown that way.
